Here's a quick fix you can try in under a minute.
First, press control + shift plus escape to open task manager.
If it opens, that's a good sign. Windows is running, but Explorer may be frozen.
In Task Manager, click File, then run new task.
Type Explorer.exe and hit enter.
This should reload your desktop.
If that doesn't work, restart in safe mode. Hold shift while clicking. Restart from the start menu. Choose troubleshoot, then advanced options, then startup settings, then restart. Then press four to boot into safe mode.
Once in safe mode, update your display drivers using device manager or uninstall any recent updates.
